His Master's Voice: Sudesh can't do without Bachchan!

Multifaceted Sudesh Bhosle turns 51 today. After maintaining a low-key on most of his birthdays, all these years, Bhosle surprised his close friends and colleagues in the industry with a birthday bash. Interestingly, as Sudesh is famous for his ability to mimic Amitabh Bachchan so, besides the birthday boy, it was Big B, who remained the point of discussion amongst the guests of the party.

“Mr. Bachchan and I are inseparable. I can’t imagine my career without him, as his presence has made a major contribution to my successful career,” said Bhosle. His close friend, Ila Arun too said a few words in praise of Sudesh. “Sudesh is extremely talented. Just like Big B, I hope, he too grows with each passing day. God bless him."

Music composer Lalit Pandit too graced the occasion and said, “Sudesh has come a long way. He is multi-talented, which makes him so special. He is blessed with the voice, which can match up to Amitji. I’m extremely proud of my friend and here I’m wishing him a very Happy Birthday.”

Also present at the occasion, were celebrated singers- Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Suresh Wadkar, Alka Yagnik, Bappi Lahiri and Adnan Sami.

Bollywood celebrities like Shekhar Suman, Poonam Dhillon, Bhagyashree and Bharat Dabholkar also came to give their wishes to the singer. Raju Srivastava and Sunil Pal also wished Bhosle on his birthday.

Within a decade the gramophone was replaced by the recording disc, but Nipper helped push forth this new media with the same excellence. Everyone wanted a record player – that is, until the late 1950’s when the magnetic tape industry hit the market. Two major developments in the tape industry were the 1964 cassette tape and the 1970’s Sony Walkman. In the 50’s nearly every family . Unfortunately, the rapid progression of music and media has greatly affected the church’s approach to worship – much of our worship is no longer active. After passive listening all week long and little attempt to ever make music, it stands to reason that Christians often want to be entertained while at church. As we interact with culture, we should not be guilty of allowing the conveniences of our world to dictate how we approach God.
