Learn Mandarin Chinese: Strategies for Linguistic Learners · USA ...
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences emerged out of contemporary cognitive research, exploration that examined exactly how humans get to know the world, how we resolve issues, and how we come to fully grasp our own actions and the actions of those around us. In particular, the analysis revealed that people learn, primarily, in seven particular ways, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, and logical-mathematical. When using this theory to create your personal Chinese language learning system, it is important to remember that every person, including you, uses every intelligence, to some extent. This particular report will present practical Chinese language learning tips for those who are strong linguistic learners.
What exactly are Linguistic Learners?
Linguistic learners are those people who are great at using words and phrases. They demonstrate highly developed auditory skills, and they typically think in terms, as opposed to other types of learners who think in a lot more abstract or emotional ways. They take pleasure in playing word games and reading and writing stories. They learn most effectivly when they are encouraged to view and say words, which means reading is often a particularly productive way for them to learn.
Learning Strategy 1
Since words have a relatively powerful impact on your brain, conventional flashcards can be a great tool for you. Just write a Chinese vocabulary term on one side of the card and the English equivalent on the other. Make sure that you write the words in large, very clear type, since it is the visual impression of the individual letters, together with the word in its entirety, that stimulates your brain. Invest an hour or so per day with these flash cards and you will be well on your way to possessing a rich and practical Chinese language vocabulary.
Learning Strategy 2
If you’re a linguistic learner, you will love to read, and not only will you enjoy it, but you will likely be fantastic at learning from it. Due to this, you’ll want to get started looking through books composed in Chinese from day one. In the beginning, you can obtain storybooks that were published for small children. The language is easy and easy to study but very helpful. As you improve, you’ll be able to opt for books that are more and more difficult to read, until, eventually, you will be able to read a Chinese language newspaper. In addition, seek out sets of storybooks that have been converted into Chinese language learning textbooks. These are numerous and will include comprehension questions and vocabulary games.
