Charlie Sheen had to find a way to get back into the headlines after falling out of them for the past two months. He couldn’t quit a show. The show quit him. He couldn’t go on another cross country tour after his first run was such an unmitigated failure. So what does he come up with? He decides to tell anyone listening that he took steroids when he played Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn. I have no idea if this is true. I have no idea if this even matters. But I do know that Sheen was lying when he claimed that the steroids helped him jack up his fastball from 79 m.p.h to 85 m.p.h.

If Sheen was throwing 85, then Jake Taylor was stealing 60 bags a year and Pedro Cerrano had no issues whatsoever with the curveball. Sheen’s a joke. And the fact that we’re still talking about him is embarrassing on a variety of levels.

But this topic is not a joke. It’s one that requires a serious look and a serious breakdown. And as an avid sports fan, movie fan and sports movie fan, I feel like I’m just the one to do it. After careful research and heavy consulting with other fans and aficionados, I decided that a simple top five or 10 list was impossible. That's because movies are brief snapshots into the careers of certain athletes, it’s impossible to know what Jesus Shuttlesworth went on to do in “He Got Game.” And it’s hard to measure the value of an All-Valley Karate title like the one Daniel LaRusso won in “The Karate Kid” and put it up against a monumental wrestling upset like the one Loudon Swain pulled in “Vision Quest” against Shute. So in lieu of that, we present an awards show honoring the greatest fictional athletes in sports movie history.

Greatest Single Game Performance – (Tie) Jimmy Chitwood, “Hoosiers” and Charles Jefferson, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”: I once tried to keep score of the final game in “Hoosiers” between Hickory and South Bend Central to see how many points Chitwood scored.

Inspector Williamson's problem was that he needed a "green" fragment of MST-13 circuit board to etangle Libya with the PanAm crash. The first manipulated (original) MST-13 timer fragment examined forensically on April 27th 1990 at the Siemens company (laboratory photo number "ZPL TW11"); was a black charred equal MST-13 circuit board, however, formerly brown coloured and marked with a in scratched letter "M "! Robert Black QC FRSE became Professor of Scots Law in the University of Edinburgh in January 1981, having previously been in practice at the Scottish Bar. He is now Professor Emeritus. He has been an Advocate since 1972 and a QC since 1987. From 1981 to 1994 he served as a temporary sheriff (judge). He has taken a close interest in the Lockerbie affair since 1993, not least because he was born and brought up in the town, and has published a substantial number of articles on the topic in the United Kingdom and overseas. He is often referred to as the architect of the Lockerbie trial at Camp Zeist in the Netherlands. Readers are invited to comment on blog posts. There is no moderation of comments.
