“We the People” Independence Day Celebration involves a parade, colonial dress, honoring of military heroes and games for kids in Memorial Park, 411 Blaine St.
Local government officials in colonial dress will arrive in horse-drawn carriages at 10 a.m. to reenact the signing of the Constitution, said Mayor's Assistant Susan Miller. Mayor Garret Nancolas will perform as James Madison in the reenactment, narrated by Idaho Supreme Court Chief Justice Daniel Eismann.
Kids can see puppet shows, pet animals, ride ponies, play on inflatables, and more from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., as vendors sell items.
The Pathway of Fallen Heroes will honor Idaho military members who have died in the service. Pictures and biographies of the heroes will be placed along the path.
Fireworks begin at dusk at Simplot Stadium, 2207 Blaine St.
Boise
Ann Morrison Park, 1000 Americana Blvd., hosts a full day of events and entertainment, including a Chalk Art Festival, kids' activities and live music, beginning at 8 a.m. and finishing with a fireworks show at 10:15 p.m. The park will be closed to vehicle traffic, but Boise State University in the Brady Garage will provide public parking.
River City Entertainment of Boise invites guests to board the Thunder Mountain Line train and watch a Wild West show in celebration of the Fourth. Rides are July 2 and 3. The audience is encouraged to dress for the Old West. The train will depart from the Horseshoe Bend, Idaho depot on state Highway 55 and return within three and a half hours.
