Schedules set for Fourth of July festivities

More than fireworks will punctuate the Independence Day celebrations in Rock and Walworth counties. Here’s a list of some of the fun.

Beloit

The annual Pops on the Rock concert takes place starting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the Harry Moore Pavilion. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow. The concert features the Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is free. Food is available for purchase. Brodhead

Sunday: The free Twilight in the Park Concert series will feature the Dang-Its from 5 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 1st Center Avenue and 12th Street. The FFA Alumni will also have a food stand. The rain location will be Cardinal Lanes.

Monday: A parade begins at noon at 11th Street on West 3rd Avenue and ends at County E. Fireworks are at dusk on the south end of the city—East 3rd Avenue behind McDonalds.

City of Delavan

Let Freedom Ring Independence Day celebration will start at 7 a.m. Monday with a pancake breakfast at the Delavan Fire Station, 230 S. Seventh St. A parade will take place downtown at 3 p.m., and fireworks will take place at 9 p.m. at Veterans Park. For more information, call (262) 728-5585, Ext. 2.

Delavan Township

The town’s annual Independence Day Celebration will take place from 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday, July 3 at Community Park. Bingo, kids games and food will be available. The fireworks display will take place at dusk.

East Troy

A four-day holiday festival that boasts the area’s largest parade and an enormous beer tent runs today through Sunday.

-- The beer tent features Tuskan Road today from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., 76 Juliet on Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Hoi Polloi on Saturday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Love Monkey from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. And 4 Lane Hwy will play Sunday from 3:30 to 9 p.m.

-- Garden tractor pulls with the Wisconsin Garden Tractor Pullers Association will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

-- The 10th Annual Car Show, staffed by the Kettle Moraine Classic Car Club, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at East Troy Middle School, 3143 Graydon Ave.

-- Truck and tractor pulls with the Badger State Truck Pullers Association will happen at 2021 West St. starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Ontario pullers - Garden Tractor Talk

The tractors i have are a case 222 with the original 12hp engine in it wich i'm leaving stock and the other tractor i have is a case 220 wich i want to put a yanmar diesel of 10hp and a blower wich might get me from 15 to 20hp depending on how daring i am with boost and that tractor i don't care if i run strictly for exibition .I'm just out for the fun of engineering this stuff.I'll be checking with the guys at the Sherkston antique power display this weekend as i know they used to pull the garden tractors there the last time i went wich was two years ago. In order to determine whether either of your tractors will be able to pull or not, you have to first locate the Pulling Club that runs the event and obtain a full set of rules. Clubs often make up their own set of rules to suit themselves. You can build a tractor that is "legal" at their events but will be disqualified at an event run by another club. A wise man finds out what is needed before spending a dime or lifting a wrench. NQS.....National Quarter Scale.Garden tractors are quarter scale tractors,the Stahl family,Midwest Supercub run NQS.True while every club pulls with different rules the majority either use NQS Rules or a version with some NQS rules in there.Some clubs pulls smoke blowers,some dont.You cant just show up at a pull,unload nd pull.You need to research or talk to someone putting on the pull so you are aware of their rules ,classes ect.Good luck with your smok blower.You are welcome to check out my clubs site to get a idea f you want. www.commonwealthpullers.
